Hi, I’m Lakeisha! My mission is to help writers put their best words forward while keeping their voices within their stories. If there’s one thing in this world I’m great at, it’s reading books and working with words. My nose has been stuck in a book since the day I was old enough to write my name on a library card, and over the years, I’ve developed a natural ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
It all started a few years ago when I began correcting grammar and spelling errors in essays, letters, and emails for my loved ones. I enjoyed helping them make their writing shine but had never thought about making proofreading a career. I was doing it purely for fun. Yes, really.
It wasn’t until I received some positive feedback in my corporate job that I began to take proofreading more seriously. I took my love of words and invested in training to learn the editorial industry and gain the skills needed to enhance my natural ability to edit copy. I am familiar with style books and creating word lists/style sheets to aid in the editing process.
I know how important it is to maintain your voice, whether that’s polishing up a business book or refining a fiction novel. My services include line editing, copyediting, and proofreading. I also have a keen interest in working with indie authors looking to self-publish their work.
Other tidbits about me: I’m a single mama to three kids who light up my life and make me laugh daily. Things bringing me joy at the present are large stacks of books, vintage housewares, lilies, strong cups of tea, baking bread and eating said bread, and crocheting. I love connecting with new people and hearing their stories.
